Introducing my brand new Desktop Power-Pack. It’s Rubbish.
Its 4+4 12v CPU cable connector is wrong. If you have a powerful CPU you probably won’t be able to plug-in the extra 4 pin connector as it has the wrong shaped pins.
So… I had to cut mine off…
And replace them with an 8 pin connector that does fit.
So now the CPU has the extra 12v it might need when put to work, but the fan still spins at 6000 RPM!
I then found out why… It seems the motherboard – regardless of CPU temperature sets the general fan speed to very fast – ranging up to over 6000, but once I had plugged in an auxillary fan it then went down to 4700! The amount of fans plugged into the motherboard is relevant to how fast they spin!
Q: Is your processor fan spinning too fast?
A: Try plugging in another auxillary fan.

Su cable conector de CPU 4+4 12v está equivocado. Si tienes una CPU potente probablemente no serás capaz de conectar el conector extra de 4 pin ya que tiene las formas de los enganches erróneas.
Así que… he tenido que cortar los míos…
Y reemplazarlos con un conector de enganches de 8 que sí encaja.
Así que ahora la CPU tiene los 12v extra que debería necesitar para funcionar, ¡pero el ventilador todavía gira a 6000 RPM!
Entonces averigüé por qué… Parece que la placa madre, sin tener en cuenta la temperatura de la CPU establece la velocidad general del ventilador demasiado rápido- llegando por encima de las 6000 RPM, ¡pero una vez que le hube conectado un ventilador auxiliar bajó a 4700! ¡La cantidad de ventiladores conectados a la placa madre influye en lo rápido que giran!

But now after putting all the pieces together – the whopping cuad-core processor, massive Ati Radeon graphics card and fast and strong Gigabyte motherboard, and waiting for a hefty lightning storm to bring the beast alive, I’ve found it’s too alive! The processor fan spins at a staggering 6000 revolutions per minute (RPM) and I don’t know why!?? (the cpu temp is only at 30-40ºc).
So I’ve been going here a great forum, with really helpful people – to try and sort it out…
Not sure if Frankenstein had this kind of trouble… What would he have done?…
Probably would have dunked it in a tank of electric eels…

¡The Tall One me acaba de comprar los componentes para un Súper-Monstruo-de-Edición-de-Vídeo! Pero ahora después de juntar todas las piezas (el procesador central whopping cuad, una bestial tarjeta gráfica Ati Radeon y una rápida y fuerte placa madre Gigabyte) y esperar a que la fuerte lluvia de estrellas de vida a la bestia, he descubierto ¡que está demasiado viva! El ventilador del procesador gira a 6000 revoluciones por minuto (RPM) ¡¿y no sé por qué?! (la temperatura de la cpu es sólo de 30-40ºc).
Así que estado preguntando por este foro, con gente muy preparada y atenta – intentando averiguarlo…
No estoy seguro de qué haría Frankenstein si tuviera esta clase de problema… ¿Qué habría hecho él?…
Probablemente lo habría sumergido en un tanque de anguilas eléctricas…

Con todo esto de ayudar con los vídeos musicales y con el capítulo piloto, he vuelto a la mala costumbre de ver películas fijándome en todos los detalles técnicos habidos y por haber.
De ahí que me haya obsesionado un poco con los planos secuencia (y por culpa de la película que ví el otro día: Atonement).
Un plano secuencia (en inglés long take o plan séquence en francés) es aquel que se rueda sin realizar cortes entre los planos que contiene de modo que la cámara sigue toda la acción. La dificultad que acarrean estos planos es extrema y requieren mucha preparación y ensayos previos. Evidentemente, cuanta más acción o gente esté implicada más mérito tienen.
Hay muchos ejemplos de estos planos así que me limitaré a mostrar los que más me han impactado de todos los que he visto:
Existen planos secuencias falseados en los que, por ejemplo, la cámara se acerca mucho a algo negro y ahí aprovechan para hacer el corte y enlazar con otra escena. Un claro ejemplo de esto se puede ver en un capítulo de The x-files titulado Triangle que fue grabado al completo de esta manera (ver minuto 1:43):
Yo diría que en Children of Men, en este otro vídeo: en el minuto 4:07 hay uno de ellos porque hay sangre que desaparece suavemente en el 4:20, en mi opinión en el 07 cortan y añaden la sangre después digitalmente.
También un último dato curioso que he leído por ahí. Existe una película filmada en su integridad en plano secuencia (y sin editar) y su duración es nada más y nada menos que 96 minutos, je. El título: El Arca Rusa (Me fascinan los planos secuencia pero no tanto como para tragarme semejante experimento). Ahí os dejo la información por si alguien se anima a verla y ya me cuenta.
Because I’ve been helping out with the music videos and with the pilot episode, I´ve come back to my bad habit of watching movies staring at every little technical detail.
That´s why I´ve become a bit obsessed with the “long take” (and also because of one movie that I watched last night: Atonement).
A “long take” (plano secuencia in Spanish and séquence in French) is the one that is filmed without any cut between the shots so that the camera films all the action. The difficulty of these shots is extreme and requires a lot of training and previous tests. Evidently, the more action or people involved then more merit it has.
There are lots of examples for these shots so I will just show you the most stunning ones that I´ve seen.
There are some fake “long takes” in which, for instance, the camera gets closer to something black colored and there they take advantage to make a cut and link it to some other scene.
We can see a clear example for this in a chapter of The X files titled Triangle which was fully recorded in this way (see minute 1:43)
In this other video, in the minute 4:07 there is one of them because there is some blood that disappears softly during the minute 4:20, in my opinion, in the 07 they cut and add the blood after digitally.
Also, the last curious info that I´ve read out there. There is a film fully filmed in one long take (and without editing) and its length is nothing more and nothing less than 96 minutes, heh. Its title: Russian Ark (I´m fascinated with “long takes” but not enough to swallow such an experiment). I leave you this information over here in case any of you feel like watching it so let me know.
